Wildlife Photos from Around the World

Our latest birding trip was to Colombia. Off the map for travel for so long due to safety worries, Colombia proved to be a country well worth a visit. Beautiful scenery, friendly people, great food and very comfortable accommodation. Our guide was Cristian Daza , a young man with exceptional birding knowledge and skill. Colombia has many endemics and with Cristian’s help, we saw many of these. We started off in Bogota and then headed to the Magdalena Valley and Santa Marta Mountains, visiting different nature reserves. Occasionally we had to transfer to 4×4’s as the approach roads were extremely rough (adding greater protection for the birds!!)

I have uploaded photos of some of the birds we saw. A few of the birds were very challenging to photograph especially the skulkers and those constantly on the move.

The photo of the Magdalena Tapaculo was taken by Cristian with my camera because I couldn’t see the bird through my camera lens as it was so well hidden.
